Common Lady Fern | Wald - Frauenfarn | Athyrium filix-femina  -  Greifswalder Oie, Germany, August 2017

 

In former times people thought, that this fern is the female counterpart of the Male Fern (Dryopteris filix-mas), because they look very similar and the leaves of the Lady Fern are finer and smaller. The hook-shaped sori are another difference.

 

Früher glaubte man dieser Farn sei das weibliche Gegenstück zum Echten Wurmfarn (Dryopteris filix-mas), dessen Blätter größer und etwas kräftiger sind. Ein anderer Unterschied besteht in der Form der Sori, die beim Frauenfarn hakenförmig sind, beim  Echten Wurmfarn rundlich.
