Although it looks like a rail, Jacanas belong to the Waders (mostly shorebirds). Their long tows should increase the surface, that they can walk on swimming vegetation on ponds without sinking. Look at the long rear claw!

 

Obwohl es wie eine Ralle aussieht, gehören Jacanas zu den Regenpfeiferartigen, die meist an der Küste leben. Mit den langen Zehen vergrößern sie die Oberfläche um auf Schwimmblattvegetation nicht unterzugehen. Man beachte die lange Hinterkralle!
